There are many prominent figures who lead their respective nations to freedom with their sheer commitment and believe, Omar Al-Mukthar is one of them. This legend is not enough talked about in fact majority of the people don't even know what this legend was to the people of Libya. Omar al-Mukhtar عُمَر الْمُخْتَار Omar Al-Mukhtar, also known as the "Lion of the Desert," was a prominent Libyan resistance leader and a national hero. He was born around 1858 in the small town of Janzour in eastern Libya. He is most famous for leading the resistance against Italian colonial forces during the Italian occupation of Libya, which began in 1911. Al-Mukhtar was a member of the Senussi order, an Islamic religious and political movement that played a significant role in Libyan society.
